Registry

Please know that your presence on our wedding day is more than enough. For those who are interested, we have listed five organizations that are especially important to us. In lieu of a gift, we would appreciate a contribution to one of them.

Equal Justice Initiative

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society. Leslie learned about EJI when she read Bryan Stevenson’s memoir, Just Mercy, several years ago. We strongly support their goals and work.

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project supports LGBTQ+ young people and focuses on suicide prevention efforts. These efforts have been especially important to Leslie in her interactions with students who identify as LGBTQ+.

Books for Kids

Books for Kids promotes literacy among preschool-aged children in under-resourced communities. They create libraries and implement literacy programs in order to help children develop the critical early literacy and social-emotional skills they need to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. Leslie wants to promote literacy as much as possible.

Capital Area Food Bank

Robert first gave to CAFB in 2020. He was fortunate enough to be able to continue working when the world shut down in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic and many found themselves struggling to make ends meet. CAFB, part of the Feeding America network of food banks, helped countless families in the DC area make it through that dark time. Their mission to help hungry and food-insecure people continues today.

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

Robert currently gives to the Washington National Opera’s Fund for Excellence, which strives to increase diversity and inclusivity across all of opera, from musicians and singers to writers and librettists, and even costuming and set design. As WNO subscribers, we have seen growth in this area as they select, commission, and cast new operas.

To give directly to the Fund for Excellence, please contact the Kennedy Center’s Development Office for a pledge form. You can also designate a gift towards Social Impact Programs or Education when making a donation online.
